Chamber of Commerce joins with dental practice for celebration as they near 20th anniversary in Cedartown

It has been nearly 20 years since Coosa Dental Associates took over a practice in Cedartown and began to provide services for local residents, and now the business has grown to become a big operation for dental care in Polk.

Though they might have made a move back in the spring to a new home, Coosa Dental Associates celebrated on Thursday afternoon their latest growth spurt which now spans all kinds of care with a merger this year and a move into newly combined and renovated office space.

Coosa Dental Associates began their time in Cedartown when Dr. David B. Gandy had planned on opening a practice locally and knew he had found his special place to start his business. That was back in 2003, and instead of starting from scratch he took over already established practices from Dr. Roger A. Hajosy and Dr. John C. Marr. Hajosy was retiring, and Marr had health complications at the time that forced them out of the business.

Dr. Gandy decided the best move was to merge the practices, and he setup shop at 109 East Avenue location where for nearly 20 years he kept the dental health of his patients a top priority alongside most of the original employees.

Included in that bunch is Office Manager Tracie Wright, who said Coosa Dental Associates treats everyone like family, whether they are a patient or a member of the staff.

When the practice merged with SGA Dental in Cedartown back in March, CDA staff found a new home and family to join at their location at 113 Plantation Avenue where local officials and the Chamber joined the Dental Squad for the ribbon cutting celebrating this year’s big moves.

Dr. Gandy joked that this was “the third ribbon cutting for our business” following the ceremony, but said that he’s excited not just for the 20 years he has watched the business grow in Cedartown, but for the next 20 years to come.

Especially with what Coosa Dental Associates can now offer patients.

The merger and expansion of office space now provides the practice with capabilities they didn’t have before and a staff of 23 to look over the needs of most patients.

With a newly-purchased CAD-CAM system for dentists called the CEREC AC that combines a high tech scanning camera system with 3D modeling capabilities and a milling machine (see below,) they can fit a crown for patients in one visit. The previous procedure required a gunky mold to be created for a patient during one visit, and then three weeks later the crown would be ready to install while a temporary was put in place.

The office can also now provide Invisalign braces fittings for patients as well with the new technological upgrades that have gone along with office renovations.

Plus now that there are dozens of treatment areas and nearly two dozen staff working together, an upstairs kitchen and conference room provides Coosa Dental Associates the opportunity for regular staff meetings and opportunities for gatherings without having to interfere with patient areas downstairs.

Coosa Dental Associates is available for appointments from Monday through Thursdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call 770-748-7736 to make an appointment or visit coosadentalassociates.com for more information.
