Cedartown will be rocking later this month as classes of CHS past are gathering to party with some great music, good food and opportunities to hang out with longtime friends.

Wilkes is among those who will be taking the stage during the Cedartown High School Reunion Block Party coming up on July 29 from 6 p.m. to midnight, held in the back alley between Herbert and Stubbs Street.

Additionally, Sorrow 2 Seven and Khaotik are also playing for the big night of partying for the various classes of Cedartown High past that are gathering for their combined reunions.

This isn’t the usual idea of a class reunion on a ballroom with a DJ and buffet, especially with a big lineup and a lot of fun and games going on in between the music lineup.

A round of class competitions and games hosted by the CHS class of 1998 alumni, Michael McDermott will give each participating class a chance to win a prize at night’s end.

Organizers hope too that with a solid lineup of participating vendors already taking part that includes Rudy’s, Remix at Moore’s, Cedar Valley Chops, Cedar and Smoke and The West Cinema all part of the fun as well. Class of 1998’s Beth Johnson Oliver has been helping with those efforts, and wants other classes to get involved to extend the experience out past just this upcoming year’s event.

“We are wanting this to be a yearly event to bring people back home to experience everything our city has to offer because once a Bulldawg, always a Bulldawg,” she said. “Class reunions only come around every few years and life is so busy that attending can be very difficult. The idea of this event is that if it happens every year at the same time, then everyone can make arrangements to come home.”

Passes for the party are available for purchase. Prices start at $10 for ages 21 and up, $5 for ages 11-20, 10 and under will be free. Party pass cards do come with discounts and free items, and organizers expect that more will be added often.

“Class sites and party passes are still available but continue to sell quickly,” Johnson Oliver added. “The event can only host 50 class sites, so we are encouraging classes to jump in fast because the deadline is quickly approaching.”

Class sites and party passes can be purchased through Eventbrite at cedartownreunion.eventbrite.com.  More information can be obtained from any committee member or reaching out to the group on Facebook @Class Reunion Downtown.
