The summer break never seems to last long enough.

Students are going back to class in a little under two weeks as the Polk School District kicks off the 2023-24 Academic Year on Tuesday, August 1.

Polk School District campuses across the county will be seeing some slight changes to the schedule this year as the kids head back to class in the coming days. Included in that change is a new time for drop-off and first bell and dismissals across the board.

Elementary students will begin accepting drop-offs at school at 7:30 a.m. on Aug. 1. School will start at 8:30 a.m., and dismissal is at 3:30 p.m. Middle School students can begin drop-offs at 7 a.m., with school to start at 7:25 a.m. and dismiss at 2:35 p.m. High school now starts at 7:35 a.m. and dismisses at 2:45 p.m. Students can begin drop-offs at 7 a.m. as well at CHS and RHS.

Students will continue to take Mondays off for the foreseeable future, but teachers will use the time for work days and will still be working on campus.

Next Friday, July 28, parents and students will be able to meet teachers and check out their classrooms during open house events ahead of the start of the school year. Elementary school open houses will run from 2 to 5 p.m. on Friday, followed by the Middle School from 4 to 7 p.m. and the High Schools from 5 to 8 p.m.

The district also posted the items students on the elementary level will need:
