Mrs. Angela Joy Watford, age 71, of Rockmart, GA passed away Friday, May 20, 2022.

She was born in Rockmart, GA on September 25, 1950, a daughter of the late Lawrence Allgood and the late Edna Marks Allgood.

She had lived all of her life in Rockmart where she was a graduate of Rockmart High School, class of 1968. Joy was very active in school having been a cheer leader and a majorette. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rockmart, enjoyed gardening and working with her flowers.

Joy was a big UGA football fan and also a big fan of Elvis. She worked and retired as a paralegal with Mundy & Gammage, and before that she worked for a number of years as a secretary for the Rockmart Middle School.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Sandra Smith and Eloise Carroll and the father of her son, Brian Watford.

Survivors include her son, Chris Watford; nieces and nephews: Melissa Hobgood, Michelle Wood, Mark Carroll, Mitchell Carroll and Mike (Mickey) Upton.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Odom officiating. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:00 noon until the service hour at 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
