A ballot error with the City of Rockmart’s uncontested elections is set to be corrected by the start of business for voters taking part in the upcoming election that began with early voting today.

The Board of Elections is meeting at 11 a.m. at Rockmart City Hall after the Elections Office caught an error made by the Secretary of State’s office when creating this year’s ballot. The names of Rick Stone and Marty Robinson for the two uncontested City Council seats were flipped, which needs correction.

Elections Director Noah Beck said the error has no real consequences for either candidate since both are set to retain their seats so long as they cast one ballot each for themselves since they are running unopposed.

He did note that the error following today’s Board of Elections meeting will be corrected before voters head to the polls again on Tuesday morning for early voting.
