The new school year is coming soon, but before the kids have to head back to class they might need some help getting supplies.

The 25th Youth Summerfest coming up next weekend in Cedartown will help with that problem, but this is the final year of the big annual event normally held right before the start of the academic year.

The Youth Summerfest moves to Turner Street Park next Saturday, July 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature the opportunity to get free school supplies, food, clothing closet, games, and this year a corn hole tournament, door prizes and much more.

“Youth Summerfest encourages the youth to stay in school by giving them the school supplies necessary to begin the school year right,” one of the organizers Courtney Ripoll noted. “This event has fun for everyone from youth to the elderly.”

Local youth will get the chance to participate in Olympic style games, while the adults and the elderly participate in less strenuous games. Medals will be provided to those who compete and win.

Clementine the Clown is also going to be featured at this year’s event as well.Organizers are thankful to those businesses and churches who have participated and made donations – along with the City of Cedartown – for the help. Though this is the final year of the Youth Summerfest, it won’t be the end of the work for all those who have helped make it happen.
