Those who served their country and have gone on to their reward are being honored this weekend as part of a nationwide program at Rockmart’s Rose Hill Cemetery.
A ceremony ahead of the wreath placements at markers around the cemetery honoring veterans and those who gave their lives in combat is part of a nationwide effort to honor service men and women who volunteered to defend the nation.
It is set to start at noon, and is free for all who wish to participate.
Local volunteers in Rockmart are taking part in the National Wreaths Across America Day, organized by the Wreaths Across America program.
Chances of rain are in the forecast over the weekend, but should not interfere with the event as wet weather is expected later in the afternoon.
More than 2 million people across the nation are expected to take part in the day.
