West Cinema featuring four movies this weekend on Friday and Saturday

This past weekend, West Cinema opened their doors again to a limited number of ticket holders to enjoy getting back to the movies for a change after months of being shuttered due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

New digital signage in front of West Cinema replaced cases that used to hold paper posters.

The longtime movie theater on West Avenue in downtown Cedartown underwent some changes during the past months before the feature films could light up the screens again, including two new projectors purchased by owner Michael Tinney after lightning damage required replacements. He also added tech upgrades to the front of the building.

No longer are there the cases with paper movie posters. Instead, televisions that can be replaced as needed now provide movie-goers an opportunity to see what’s coming up, and much more.

Opening weekend over the holiday featured “Trolls World Tour” and the classic summer film “Jaws,” and more favorites from the past are returning to all four of the West Cinema screens this weekend. Social distancing requirements will still be in place so limited seating will be available for the July 10 and 11 showings.

This weekend after online voting and popular demand, “Jaws” will be back for moviegoers to enjoy alongside “Star Wars Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back,” “E.T.” and “Jurrasic Park.”

Tickets are available online only – a feature that Tinney is considering keeping after the COVID-19 pandemic regulations ease to speed patrons time through the lobby to the theater – and can be purchased at www.thewestcinema.com.

Tinney said that West Cinema is following all state guidelines at this time.
