A flash flood warning was supposed to expire after the 6 p.m. hour in Polk County, but has been extended as the National Weather Service also places the local area under new watches.
The NWS in Peachtree City has Polk County and surrounding areas under a flash flood warning until 8:15 p.m. this evening as additional stormy weather moves through during the evening hours.
Additionally, the county is now under a severe thunderstorm watch until 9 p.m., and a flash flood watch through May 5.
The new updates come as Polk County is already experiencing high waters across the area – Cedar Creek in Cedartown is getting closer to the top of the levee next to the Goodyear Park Soccer Complex, Euharlee Creek in Rockmart has already flooded several areas and forced the postponement of tomorrow morning’s Small Business Appreciation Breakfast for tomorrow morning, and Fish Creek is on the rise as well.
