The result was already taken for granted as a foregone conclusion that was sealed on Super Tuesday. Now it makes voting for the Presidential Preference Primary a mere formality as early voting comes to a conclusion for the March 12 vote at week’s end.

Early voting in Cedartown and Rockmart as of close of business on Wednesday, March 6 totaled up to 1,593 votes cast for one of the two parties. That breaks down to 902 ballots for the Cedartown precinct, and 671 for the Rockmart precinct.

Another 134 absentee by mail ballots were issued, 87 have been returned and 63 accepted. None have been rejected as of this update.

The turnout was already expected to be low as former President Donald Trump has cruised through competition in the Republican primary and caucuses through January and February, then scored a final blow against the last opponent former Ambassador Nikki Haley with wins on March 3 across the country.

Democrats have cemented the candidacy of President Joe Biden to give him a shot at another four years in office as he has taken all the state races so far with only token support shown for Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota in the primary race.

The presidential race thus far has seen low turnout across the country in primaries and caucuses due to the expected turnout of a rematch between former President Trump and President Biden. Less than 4 million voters turned out in California, with a population of more than 39 million, for instance. Just over 3 million turned out in Texas on Tuesday overall, with a population of 29.5+ million. And closer to home in Alabama, around 720,000+ ballots were cast between the two primary ballots, with a population of 5 million.

Protest votes for uncommitted voters was reported on the ballots across the nation as well, including Colorado, Minnesota, Iowa, Alabama, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Massachusetts.

Georgia voters have two more days of early voting and March 12 on Primary Day joining other states in another round of cementing the inevitable rematch.

Check back for additional results as they become available.
