Polk County’s government has teamed up with Redmond Regional Medical Center to provide vaccinations to those who would like to receive one, and the group of people who can now get a shot has expanded, according to the latest release from County Administration.

Dozens of appointments remain open for those who want to get the vaccine on Wednesday, March 17 starting at 9 a.m. at the Nathan Dean Community Center at 605 Goodyear Ave., Rockmart.

The criteria for those who can sign up now includes adults ages 55 and up, school system employees, adults with developmental disabilities, their caregivers, parents of children with complex medical conditions, and anyone with asthma, cancer, cerebrovascular disease or chronic kidney disease.

Additional conditions also include COPD, cystic fibrosis, diabetes, hypertension or high blood pressure, heart conditions, immunocompromised, neurological conditions, being overweight or obesity, pregnancy, pulmonary fibrosis, sickle cell disease or thalassemia (blood disorder.)

The second shot will be scheduled at the same location for those who get an appointment now. Register by calling 678-246-5010.

Phone lines will remain open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Tuesday ahead of Wednesday’s scheduled vaccination clinic.
