Mr. Thomas Clinton Byars

Mr. Thomas Clinton Byars, age 83, of Aragon, GA, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023, at his residence.

Mr. Byars was born in Rome, GA on August 18, 1940, a son of the late Buck Byars and Annie Dean Byars.

He had lived the greater part of his life in Rome and was a graduate of Pepperell High School where he was active in sports.

Mr. Byars was a veteran of the United States Army.

He had worked for a number of years with Inland Container Corporation. Mr. Byars was a member of the Oak Hill Church of Christ and also was instrumental in starting the Emerald Beach Church of Christ in Panama City, FL. He loved to golf and go fishing and was an avid University of Georgia fan.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Byars was preceded in death by a son, Craig Edwards Byars, on March 15, 2018.

Mr. Byars is survived by his wife, Ann Jones Byars, whom he married June 18, 1960; two daughters, Sherrie Byars Warren (Johnny), and Julie Byars Folsom (Frankie); son, Jason Byars (Heidi); grandchildren, Rachael Warren (John), Jacob Warren, Joshua Warren (Estella), Cody Folsom (Cody), Carly Folsom, Gabrielle Byars, Zayne Byars, and Haydee Byars; great-grandchildren, Aleigha, Silas, Olivia, Jameson, Lazer, Josiah, Wyatt, and Waylon; brother, Clayton Byars (Lancie); sister, Virginia LeRoy. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Byars will be Thursday evening, January 4, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Elder Edward Jones officiating. The family will gather on Friday morning, January 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens in Rome for the interment. Brown-Wright Post #12 American Legion Honor Guard will provide military rites.

Mr. Byars’ family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Thursday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m.
