Mr. Stephen Felton Dean, age 75 of Rockmart, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2023.
Mr. Dean was born January 29, 1948 in Atlanta, son of the late William Felton “Bill” Dean and the late Lillian Mayes Dean.
He was a 1968 graduate of Rockmart High School and was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Mr. Dean was a retired mechanic having worked 29 years for Delta Air Lines and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rockmart. He loved flowers, aviation and cars, but his greatest love was his children and grandchildren.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially going on family trips to national parks.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Julia Little Dean of Rockmart; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Adam Nesbitt of Rockmart; son and daughter-in-law, Clark and Kristen Dean of Rockmart; sister, Susan Abell of Athens; seven grandchildren, Lizzy Dean, Lexie Dean, Olivia Dean, Lucas Dean, Bella Nesbitt, Addie Nesbitt and Liam Nesbitt; and his beloved dog, “Lulu”.
Funeral services for Mr. Dean will be held Saturday, March 4, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Odom and Dr. Bill Heaton officiating. Interment service will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with American Legion Brown-Wright Post 12 Honor Guard in charge of military graveside rites.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Joe Abell, Joseph Abell, Alan Dryden, Jerry Merwitz, Alan Dean, Devin Smith and Gene Davis.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday prior to the funeral service from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
