Polk School District’s top students are once again being recognized for their academic achievements throughout their four years in school, and their aptitude for the SAT.

The annual STAR Student and STAR Teacher awards were announced earlier today for Cedartown High School and Rockmart High School, and both campuses have forwarded names that will be difficult to determine who should go onto represent the district level.

Rockmart announced that Bailey Hynes – who had the highest SAT score in the Class of 2024 and met the rest of the program requirements – is this year’s STAR Student, alongside her AP Language teacher Vivian Bleecker as the STAR Teacher.

Over at Cedartown High, Spencer Hicks was announced as this year’s STAR Student for the Bulldogs Class of 2024. He selected Camille Whitfield as his STAR Teacher for 2024 from the CHS campus.

The four will be joined by educators, local leaders and family members for the STAR Student and Teacher Luncheon in February to celebrate who will go onto represent PSD in 2024 at the regional level, and then potentially onward to the state and national levels.

Both schools announced this year’s STAR Student and Teachers on social media this morning.
