The work on the new mural in Rockmart continues this coming weekend on Saturday with a coat of primer going on the side of the building, but the real fun is coming up on November 7.
The painting of the design for the side of the building that houses Brackett Cleaners and The Perch on Marble will begin on the first Saturday of November, and an invitation is being extended to help.
Here’s a link to previous coverage on the mural.
Stacey Lovvorn, who is helping organize the project being completed by Rockmart High student Elizabeth Stone, who hopes the mural will become part of her portfolio she is putting together to apply for the Savannah College of Art and Design.
The idea for volunteers in order to keep group sizes within COVID-19 restrictions is to have people come out and work a two-hour shift, Lovvorn said.
Those interested can call The Perch on Marble at 678-685-4799 and sign up for a time slot.
Work began last weekend on the project in downtown Rockmart with a round of sandblasting old paint and a portion of the former arts-themed mural that was painted on the building’s side next door to the Rockmart Arts Theater on North Elm Street at the intersection with Marble Street.
“We are very excited about this project and hope it brings a renewed feeling of community during what has been a difficult year for all,” Lovvorn said previously.
Check back next week for more on the mural as the project develops.
