Annual honors for Dr. King return for the 19th year as organizers are getting ready for a chilly march down Main Street in Cedartown on Monday at 1 p.m.

The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday bring Bernard and Letitia Morgan’s annual effort to honor Dr. King’s life and works for the 19th year.

Walkers are going to have Apostle Joy Fredrick leading the way as the Grand Marshal for this year’s event. Pastor Bobby Church of Marietta Street United Methodist Church is this year’s host.

The walk begins at the corner of Thompson and Rock Streets and will turn down South Main Street to head to Holloway Park. A celebration will be held following this year’s Walk in the park in front of Historic Polk County Courthouse No. 2 in downtown Cedartown.

This year’s theme is “Strength through service based on Civil Rights movement.”

Additionally, a first, second and third place prize is being given for “the expression of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.”
