Joseph Daniel Wilhoit

A man who was previously jailed last week after being spotted by officers looking into cars at Zorba’s and was tased was back in jail on Wednesday for a drug charge.

According to Polk County Police reports, they arrested Joseph Daniel Wilhoit, 29, on a single felony charge for possession of methamphetamine on Wednesday, May 26 around 4 a.m.

Reports stated that Wilhoit was spotted in the area of Piedmont Avenue and Newcomb Street carrying a muffler in the early morning hours. Police knowing two auto shops were close by decided to investigate and stopped Wilhoit to see if it was stolen.

He claimed to have found the muffler on the side of the road. He gave police consent to be searched, and after a pat down they found a baggie of methamphetamine on his person.



Wilhoit was taken into custody without further incident and remained in the Polk County Jail as of this posting without bond on the lone felony charge.

Wilhoit had only been out of jail for around a week after being tased during his arrest fleeing from officers when he was spotted looking into cars at Zorba’s last week.

He had gotten out on a $6,000 bond following that incident.
