Chad Matthew Robinson

Polk County Police took a man to jail on Tuesday after he pummeled a man severely enough to break his nose, according to reports.

Chad Matthew Robinson, 38, of 2115 Bellview Road, Rockmart, remains in jail on a trio of felony and misdemeanor charges after police were called out to a Bellview Road residence after a report came in of a disturbance at a home that had already occured.

When police arrived, they found a pair, which included a man who had been beaten up and had a visibly broken nose. He refused treatment from Redmond EMS, and explained to police what caused the violent outburst from Robinson, who had fled the scene.

According to the report, the pair told police that Robinson’s drug use had forced his eviction from the property in March by Sheriff’s deputies, but that he had been coming back daily despite that and allowed to come in and sit and watch television. One of the victims told officers that she had asked him several times through the day to stop talking to himself while Robinson and the victim sat and watched TV, but he continued and got louder.

When he refused for the last time around 4 p.m., the victim went and woke the man who was beaten up to help, only to spark Robinson to jump on the man and begin striking him several times, which broke his nose.

Police also reported the victim told officers he was choked as well before Robinson got off of him, fled from the house and entered the woods.

After officers got information about what happened and were preparing to search with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office K-9 bloodhound, Robinson came out of the woods of his own accord and gave up without further incident.

He wasn’t forthcoming about what happened with officers, but did deny choking the victim.

Police ultimately charged Robinson with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanors for simple assault and battery.
