A man who was crawling in a ditch was ultimately arrested due to his odd behavior and belief he was under the influence of some kind of substance, per a Polk County Police report from Monday.
A Polk County Police officer leaving headquarters on Cline-Ingram-Jackson Road spotted a man who was crawling in the ditch between the PCPD and Polk County 911/EMA building, and stopped to investigate.
When the officer found Jeffery Lee Hoskins, 38, of a Cedartown address, crouching down in the 911/EMA building parking lot, he was only wearing shorts and socks.
Officers got him to identify himself, and he told police he was walking to Villa Rica.
Based on his behavior and appearance, the officer suspected he was under the influence “of some substance.”
“It should also be noted that the direction that Mr. Hoskins was walking toward was not of Villa Rica,” the report also stated.
He had also crossed the county jail’s guard line during the incident.
Hoskins was booked into the Polk County Jail following his arrest on a single charge of loitering on county-owned property.
He remained in custody as of this posting on a $300 bond.
