Patrick Lucas Hanson

A homeless man remained in custody with no bond set as of yet after he was arrested for a third time this month, this time on a charge of impersonating a police officer.

Patrick Lucas Hanson, 42, who has no listed address, was arrested at the Polk County Police Department on Friday after he claimed he was a Federal Agent with “A1 Clearance” and wanted to first speak with a “mason.” Hanson’s behavior had clerks in the front office concerned, so they called for a detective to speak with him.

The report indicated that Hanson told police he was an informant and also a federal agent, and wanted to speak with another federal officer but didn’t want to give a report.

“Mr. Hanson was verbally standoffish and demanded to use a cell phone,” one detective noted in the report.

Hanson left around 1:10 p.m., but was back just over an hour later and a second detective was on hand this time to witness the claims being presented to sworn officers.

When he returned, he continued to claim he was a “federal officer with ‘A1 Clearance,'” and this time sought a “courtesy ride to the City of Cedartown since he was working for them as well.”

He claimed another federal agent was in danger of their lives, but provided no proof of his identity or if the other agent even existed.

Police asked him multiple times if he was a law enforcement officer, and Hanson claimed each time to be one and was ultimately taken into custody. Even after he was cuffed and being driven around the corner to the Polk County Jail for booking, Hanson continued to claim he was a federal agent.

Hanson faces the single misdemeanor charge before a court, plus others for arrests in the past days as well.

On January 18, Hanson was arrested for disorderly conduct in Cedartown. He was also arrested on January 10 for public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and a failure to appear warrant in Cedartown as well. All of those are misdemeanor charges.
