A elderly man was injured in a weekend domestic incident, and two were jailed on charges after Polk County Police struggled to get both in custody according to reports.

Officers arrested Joshua Tillman Lee, 38, and Sadie Jo Lee, 82, both of a Cedartown-area address, after police were called out on the evening of Saturday, April 8, 2023 to a domestic incident.

Per the report, the victim was met by officers outside and found he had been visibly struck and was also bleeding badly from an open cut on his arm. Police heard from a neighbor that the main suspect, Joshua Lee, was alleged to be responsible for the injuries and that he had left and returned before police arrived to investigate.

They additionally were told that Lee’s grandmother was inside the house with him, and they had a dog that would likely attack officers.

When officers tried to go inside, Sadie Jo Lee refused to let officers in the house and physically blocked the door. When one officer opened the door, the dog ran out and they went in, but were still being blocked by Sadie Jo while Joshua sat and watched.

Per the report, police ultimately were forced to take Sadie Jo into custody and she fell while they were attempting to place her into handcuffs. They additionally took Joshua into custody as well, but not without him struggling with officers.

Joshua was escorted to a patrol vehicle without further incident. Due to Sadie Jo’s age and the fact she had fallen while being taken into custody, police moved one of their patrol vehicles into the yard near the door to be able to escort her to the back seat without issue as well.

AdventHealth Redmond EMS ultimately were called out to treat the elderly victim.

The report did not explain the motive behind the Saturday evening incident.

Joshua Tillman Lee remained in the Polk County Jail as of this posting without bond set on charges of felony elder abuse – exploit/inflict pain to/deprive essential services to disabled person, elder person or resident, and misdemeanor charges for battery, simple battery – family violence, and obstruction of law enforcement officers.

Sadie Jo Lee was released over the weekend on a $1,400 bond for the single misdemeanor charge of obstruction of law enforcement officers.
