A Cedartown man was jailed and later released on bond after he was pulled over going 80 mph at one point on Highway 278 eastbound near Yorkville Highway, and pulled him over at the Raceway in Cedartown.
Polk County Police reported the arrest of Antonio Byron Ware, 40, of 121 Vance Ave., Cedartown, on a felony charge of driving while license suspended or revoked, and misdemeanor charges of speeding in excess of maximum limits and three counts of a seat belt violation involving children.
Ware was pulled over after being clocked at 80 mph near Yorkville Highway on Highway 278 on Monday morning, April 12 around 2:45 a.m., and when police stepped up to the vehicle to request license and registration found a trio of children ages 8, 12 and 15 in the backseat without seatbelts on.
Reports stated Ware asked for a check of the radar gun, and the test result passed. When run through the state’s information system reported Ware had a suspended license for a failure to appear in a previous traffic stop involving a super speeder charge.
Ware was taken into custody without incident on the scene, and later spent a short time in jail before he was released on bond for $2,200.
Police turned the vehicle over to another passenger in the vehicle who was a licensed driver.
