Help needed more than ever after decline in VOCA funds
Our House Women’s Shelter does much good in the community, but the amount of services they can provide is dependent upon many factors – specifically their funding level.
Like many organizations since shutdowns due to the pandemic, Our House Women’s Shelter has seen money they usually receive from the courts go drastically down over the past two years. Cashflow they rely on in order to help women and children who have been victims of domestic violence.
Fundraisers now are more important than ever to these organizations, and Our House Women’s Shelter is doing their utmost to ensure that even though they are raising money, participants providing the help have opportunity to have a lot of fun in the process. They got great laughs and donations for their annual Comedy Night that returned last fall, and now they are seeking additional help with an upcoming golf tournament.
The annual Our House Golf Tournament is coming up at the Cherokee Golf and Country Club in Cedartown on Friday, May 12, 2023, and both teams and sponsorship signups are underway currently.
Kelsei Poulin, Executive Director for Our House, said the need for participants and donors is greater than ever.
“We are once again facing funding cuts from VOCA and need our communities help to offset the hardship,” she said.
The tournament in May includes breakfast and lunch for players.
