The Angelica facility in Rockmart was shut down this evening and rehab operations were underway after a late afternoon fire at the plant, according to Rockmart Fire Chief Todd Queen.
No injuries were reported among staff or firefighters who were called out to the fire at the linen cleaning facility in the Rockmart Industrial Park at 4:20 p.m. Both the Rockmart Fire and Polk County Volunteer Fire and Rescue departments were called out to the scene.
Queen said the fires are believed to have started in linen bins within the plant, but no cause has yet to be determined. The fire was put out fast, and only minor damage was reported according to the Fire Chief.
He added that cleanup operations were underway around 5:30 p.m. and employees should be expected to be allowed back into the plant this evening.
Angelica is a linen management company that mainly focuses on the healthcare industry, providing linens under the Angel Kits, Angel Sliders and Angel Mats brands. They also provide garments for medical professionals and other services.
