Polk County Volunteer Fire Department, along with Rockmart Fire and Rescue have the roadway shut down while they work to fight a house fire off Atlanta Highway this afternoon.
At this time, Atlanta Highway is shut down to all traffic until further notice.
Firefighters have also called up on the Cedartown Fire Department to help.
No injuries have yet been reported in the house fire. Officials have noted that the homeowner made it out safely without being harmed.
