Mrs. Dorothy “Bernese” Hames Atkins, age 79 of Aragon, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2022.
Mrs. Atkins was born May 22, 1942 in Bartow County, daughter of the late Grady “Tucker” Hames, Sr. and the late Pauline Waits Hames. She was a member of the Seney Baptist Church.
Mrs. Atkins retired from First Brands Corporation of Cartersville and worked several years part-time for Triangle Foods. She enjoyed working puzzles and loved her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Jackie “Roger” Atkins of Aragon to whom she was married September 12, 1959; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Nyoaka Atkins of Rockmart; brother, Grady Hames, Jr. of Taylorsville; granddaughter, Morgan Atkins and Kurtis Bransford of Acworth; three grandsons, Linkin Atkins, Levi Atkins and Ledger Atkins; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Atkins will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in the Seney Baptist Church with Rev. Donny Sutton officiating. Interment service will follow in the Floyd Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be: William Bowman, Greg Hames, Glenn Sorrells, Kurtis Bransford, Chris Wolfe and James Atkins.
The family will receive friends at the Seney Baptist Church on Wednesday prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
