On Thursday, January 14, 2021, Ricky James Hulsey passed away.  He was a lifelong resident of Cedartown, GA. He graduated Cedartown High School in 1977. He was a retired commercial painter who loved the outdoors. He loved to hunt; he loved to collect knives and to collect guns. Some of his favorite hobbies were collecting arrowheads and fishing. He said it was peaceful and relaxing. In addition, he enjoyed designing and collecting jewelry over the years for his family and friends.

Mr. Hulsey is survived by his daughter, Michelle Rae Hulsey (Joseph Wilson, Jr.); grandchildren Emberlee Wilson and Joseph Wilson, III; ex wife Deborah Hicks whom he remained dear friends with; sisters, Vickie Benson and Sandra Floyd; and brother Johnny Hulsey (Jennifer), many nieces, nephews and other extended family also survive.

Mr. Hulsey is preceded in death by his father W.J. Hulsey and mother Shirley Anne Lindsey Hulsey.

Michelle Rae his daughter said “I gotta hold on easy as I let you go Daddy. Gonna tell you how much I love you though you, think you already know. Daddy I love you more.”

His dear friend Debroah said “Ricky was unique in his own way loving and caring. There isn’t anyone who can say any different.  If Ricky was your friend, it was forever.  Ricky loved life to the max.”

Vickie his sister says “she knows his first stop in heaven was at the creek fishing with his grandpa.  The thing that made Ricky happiest growing up was grandma making fried fish and biscuits and everyone sitting around togher telling fish tales while they ate.  Now he gets to do that for eternity with Jesus helping and baiting the hooks for them.”

His brother, Johnny said Ricky “had the biggest heart of anyone.  He would literally give you the shirt off his back.  He would do without before he saw someone go hungry or in need.  He loved all of his family he never once hung up the phone, finished a text, or got out of a vehicle without telling you he loved you.  He had a different way about him, and that is why he is going to be missed so much.  And the joy of his life was his daughter Michelle Rae whom he adored, and he loved his grandchildren very much. He was my brother, and I am going to miss him tremendously.”

Ricky always encouraged me. No matter what I did or where I was he always encouraged me. Jennifer, his sister-in-law said.

“He ain’t heavy he’s my brother” his sister Sandra said while remembering their younger years and their special bond.

To know Ricky was to love him. He is at peace now, and the family asks for your continued prayers.
