Mr. James Glafus Bowling

Mr. James Glafus Bowling, age 73, of Cedartown, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2020.

Glafus was born September 18, 1947 in Cedartown, Georgia, to the late Edna Hazel McClure Bowling and James Archie “Chick” Bowling. Glafus graduated from Cedartown High School in 1967. He loved life and lived it his way. A true American Hero, he proudly served his country and was a highly decorated Vietnam Veteran. Glafus accepted many awards, however, with valor, he accepted the Bronze Star. Most of his life he worked as a body-man and had a passion for cars. He spent years in law enforcement, working in Polk County as a Deputy Sheriff and a Police Officer. Glafus enjoyed playing golf, riding motorcycles and spending time among his friends. He was a fifty-year member of the American Legion in the State of Georgia.

Glafus is survived by his wife and best friend Faye Wilson Bowling; daughters: Candace Little and Leslie Donaldson; his Bonus children: Jimmy Mobley and Michelle, Neina McKee and David, Brandi Paris and Todd, Rayanna Sherman and Eric, Debra Proctor and Trey; grandchildren: Seth, Mollie and Megan Little, Logan Casey and Drake Dean; bonus grandchildren: Noah and Izzy Mobley, Hunter, Chase and Piper Mckee, John and Tegan Sherman, Trevor Proctor, Evan Tipaldos, Ella Tipaldos, and Will Parsegian; sisters: Dollie Ann Babb and Jim, Sheila Kinney and Thad; brother: Tony Bowling and Synetta. Several nieces, nephew and cousins also survive.



Graveside services will be Sunday, December 6, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Polk Memory Gardens with the Rev. Steve Fetkenhour officiating. Full military rites will be provided by the United States Army and the American Legion of Rome, Georgia.

Pallbearers will be: Logan Casey, Seth Little, Drake Dean, Rhett Kinney, Bob Chandler and Craig Chandler.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Hines, Jerry Haney, Bobby Sparks, Richard Hayes, Kenneth Tracey, Johnny Rampley, Roger Landrum and David Ferguson.

The family has requested that everyone follow social distance guidelines and that you please wear a mask.
