Ms. Mary Claire Gammon

Ms. Mary Claire Gammon, age 63, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2022. She was born on July 16, 1958, in Cedartown, Georgia.

Ms. Gammon earned a B.S. at Weslyan College and a Master of Education from West Georgia College. She has lived in Cedartown most of her life but has also called Savannah, Atlanta, and Charleston home. Claire was a past President of the Polk County Historical Society, NSDAR- Regent of William Witcher Chapter, and co owner of Knomon Res. Construction Company. Ms. Gammon is retired from Polk School District

Claire loved outdoor activities; she was an avid sheller at Sanibel Island, Florida, and a kayaker through the Okefenokee Swamp. She loved gardening, photography and spending time with family and friends.

Ms. Gammon is survived by Isabelle (Beth) Page Gammon, mother; Debbie M. Knowles, partner; sisters, Page Gammon and Ann Jacks (Stephen); brother, W. Wright Gammon, Jr. (Kristi); and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Ms. Gammon is preceded in death by her father, Wayne Wright Gammon, Sr., and nephew, Matthew Wayne Prather.

The family of Ms. Gammon will receive family and friends on Saturday, April 23, 2022 from one o’clock in the afternoon until the graveside hour at the Gammage Funeral Home.

A graveside service for Ms. Mary Claire Gammon will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at three o’clock in the afternoon in the family lot in Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Anthony Trawick and Mrs. Paige Brumby Cox officiating.

The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Bob Worthington, Thad Kinney, Robert Hamrick, Steve Jacks, Mark Jacks, Winston Gammon, Wayne Gammon, Antwane Nelson, Mark Woodhouse, and Jackie Casey.

The family is accepting flowers; however, donations can be made to Polk County Historical Society Research Library, 205 S. College Street, Cedartown, GA 30125.
