Mrs. Lori Danielle Gurley Deakins, age 59 of Aragon, passed away Friday, May 5, 2023 at her residence following an extended illness.
Mrs. Deakins was born November 10, 1963 in Rockmart, daughter of the late Earl Slater Gurley, Sr. and the late Henrietta Bishop Gurley. She was a 1983 graduate of Rockmart High School and a member of the Aragon Baptist Church. Lori was a homemaker who was big in the S.C.A. and enjoyed cooking, knitting, weaving, camping and foraging.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard Earl Gurley, George Anthony “Tony” Gurley and Earl Slater “Buster” Gurley, Jr.
Survivors include her husband of 27 years, Michael Grant Deakins of Aragon; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Deakins and Joshua Goldin of Aragon; three sisters, Janie Wolfe of Villa Rica, Margaret “Muffy” Wilson of Rome and Ailan Sanchez Olsen of Marietta; two grandchildren, Arwen Torline and Kairi Torline; a cousin, Debbie Pittman of Aragon; and many children of heart.
A celebration of life for Mrs. Deakins will be held at a later date at the Aragon Baptist Church.
