Mr. John Michael “Mike” Johnson, Sr., age 66, passed away Tuesday morning, January 24, 2023, at his residence in Rockmart, GA.
Mike was born on October 3, 1956, in Jacksonville, FL, a son of Elizabeth “Betty” Butler Johnson and the late Calvin Johnson.
He had lived the greater part of his life in Rome, GA and spent the last nine years in Rockmart with his wife Vicky.
Mike was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and had worked for Kellogg Bakery for several years which he loved. He enjoyed deep sea fishing in Panama City Beach, FL, playing golf and watching football. Mike was an avid Florida Gators fan.
In addition to his father, Mike was preceded in death by his grandmother, Gladys Butler, a sister, Pat Johnson, and two brothers, Ricky and Tim Johnson.
Mike is survived by his wife, Vicky Ward Johnson, whom he married September 9, 2017; daughter, Brooke Stanley and her husband, Brandon of Rome; son, John Johnson, Jr. and his wife, Libby of Pine Log, GA; mother, Betty Sobecki and her husband, Bill of Citra, FL; sister, Lynn Burnham and her husband, Cliff of Rome; brothers, Bill Johnson and his wife, Carol of Griffin, GA; Kevin Johnson and his wife, Chris of Hartsville, TN; and Johnny Johnson and his wife, Mary of Ocala, FL. Seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
In keeping with his wishes, Mike will be cremated, and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
