Mrs. Joann Davis, age 85 of Rockmart, passed away Friday, April 21, 2023 at The Cottages of Rockmart.
She was born July 25, 1937 in Alta Vista, Kansas and was the last of eight children born to a farmer and his wife, the late Leonard Sanders and the late Flora Dugan Sanders.
Joann was a godly woman and a member of New Harmony Baptist Church of Cedartown.
She was a military wife for 22 years, traveling throughout the U.S. and her favorite place being Germany. When her husband retired, she began a fulfilling career with Floyd Hospital and retired after 17 years. Joann spent her entire life in service for God and taking care of her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Davis, Sr.; seven siblings; and great-great-grandson, Isaiah.
Survivors include her two daughters, Laura Wolf and Dora Crenshaw both of Cedartown; three sons, Charles Davis, Jr., Billy (Tammy) Davis, and Steven (Toni) Davis all of Rockmart; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one new great-great-grandson.
In keeping with her wishes, she will be cremated and a celebration to honor her life will be held Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Phil Bray officiating. An inurnment service will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. until the memorial hour.
