James Harold Pilgrim, Sr

James Harold Pilgrim, Sr. of Rockmart, GA passed away July 12, 2022 at the age of 84.

Harold was born January 1, 1938 to the late Chester and Leona Pilgrim. He was a member of New Hope Fellowship Church. He loved the Lord, his family, southern gospel music and the New Hope Baptist Association.

He was a talented singer and guitarist who sang with his sisters as The Pilgrim Family early in his life. He was known as Peewee to fellow members of Steam & Pipe Fitters Local #72. He was a classic car enthusiast who had several trophies to his credit. He graduated from Rockmart High School in 1957 and was a lifelong fan of the Rockmart Yellow Jackets.

He was an avid storyteller of all things Rockmart and its local citizenry. He instilled respect in his children for their elders and the history of this country. He was the founder of Designed Kitchens. He was a loving husband, father, step-father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Margaret Kirby Pilgrim, a brother, Jimmy Darrell, and a step daughter, Leigh Anne Abernathy.

Harold is survived by his wife Maxine Pilgrim; children Vickie (Kenny) Teal, Jim Pilgrim, Cynthia (Cary) Cooper, step-daughter Sharon McGatha,stepson Jay (Wendy) Haney; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; four sisters Inez Lucas, Eloise Robinson, Dorothy Jacobs and Edna Hatfield; 5 brothers David Pilgrim, Wayne Pilgrim, Tim Pilgrim, Gary Pilgrim and Bobby Pilgrim.

Funeral Services for Mr. Pilgrim will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022 at 2:00 PM at New Hope Fellowship Church with Rev. Stevie Waddell officiating and a eulogy provided by Brother Kenny Teal. Harold will lie in state at the church before the service on Friday, July 15, 2022 from 1:00 PM until the service hour at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow the service at Polk Memory Gardens in Cedartown.

Serving as pallbearers will be: David Pilgrim, Wayne Pilgrim, Tim Pilgrim, Gary Pilgrim, Bobby Pilgrim and Greg Robinson.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, July 14, 2022 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
