Face masks for use by elementary school children and teachers alike in the Polk School District when they return to class next week will be available thanks to a donation from Gildan, who has a yarn plant in Cedartown.
The Polk County Chamber of Commerce’s Children’s Cloth Face Mask Drive held in July saw its greatest contribution from the company, with 3,120 youth-sized masks and another 840 adult masks provided by the apparel manufacturer for the PSD.
“Special thanks to Gildan for their generous donation to the Chamber Children’s Mask Drive! Their gift will allow us to provide a mask to each PSD elementary school student and PSD employee,” wrote Chamber Executive Director Blair Elrod in a Facebook post announcing the receipt of the masks.
They’ll be forwarded on to the PSD for use in the coming days when students return back to campuses on August 25 after a week break from school due to COVID-19.
The donation was made to the Chamber at the Cedartown office with Susan Oswalt, Gildan’s HR Manager; Gregg Webb, the Gildan Cedartown Plant Manager, on hand with Elrod on August 14.
