The Georgia Bureau of Investigation released the name of a woman who died ahead of the holiday weekend in a shooting in the Chubbtown area of Polk County.

The agency reported that Darnetha Elliot, 48, was found dead at a Michael Boulevard residence last Friday.

Following the incident, Polk County Police initially reported the death occurred during what appeared to be a domestic altercation.

Agents were called in after Elliot’s body was found around 2:45 p.m. on Friday, December 23.

The GBI reported that the agency is expected to conduct an autopsy on Elliot. No immediate results were available.

The incident remains under investigation, and no additional details were immediately available per GBI officials.
