Cedartown Police and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are still seeking help in finding more information that will lead to suspects and an arrest in the shooting death of Demetrious Brown late Monday night.

Brown, 38, was shot and died on the scene after officers discovered he was lying on the sidewalk around 11:30 p.m. on May 10.

So far, police have no firm leads to track down a potential suspect or suspects in the case.

As reported earlier today, police were on the lookout for a late model, dark sedan with an older black male driver with dreadlocks, but that has thus far not turned up any potential information that can lead to an arrest.

“The Cedartown Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division is actively pursuing the case and working closely with the GBI,” Newsome said.

Those who have information about Monday night’s shooting death should immediately call 911 or the CPD office number at 770-748-4123.

Monday’s shooting death was the second murder reported in Polk County this year.

In late February, Michael L. Griffith was shot and killed near his home on Clarkwood Road. Polk County Police later arrested Jesse Castillo for the murder.

Check back for additional information as it becomes available about Brown’s death as it becomes available.
