Mr. Doyal “Wayne” Atkins

Mr. Doyal Wayne Atkins, age 79, of Cedartown, GA, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022.

Mr. Atkins was born on September 15, 1942, in Cedartown to his parents, Joel Atkins and Mary Landers Atkins.

Wayne retired from Casey’s Food Store where he had worked for 52 years. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Cedartown.

In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family and golfing. According to Wayne, he “loved all food except banana pudding”.

Mr. Atkins was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Barbara Atkins.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Linda Faye Huckaby Atkins; children, Scott Atkins (Laurie) of Rockmart, GA, and Jason Atkins (Trisha) of Lilburn, GA; grandchildren, Jordan Atkins, Katie McNabb (Brandon), Emily Atkins, Olivia Atkins, Clara Atkins; great-granddaughter, Sadie Jo Atkins; brother, Eddy Atkins; sister, Sandra Cantrell (Roger). A number of loving nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral Services for Wayne will be held on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. in Second Baptist Church with Rev. Justin Carter and Rev. Bud Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Second Baptist Church Sunday from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will include Sonny Alexander, Tony Bowling, Jimmy Tracey, Jordan Atkins, Bill Ingram, and Howard Smith. Honorary pallbearers will include his granddaughters, Katie Atkins, Emily Atkins, Olivia Atkins and Clara Atkins.
