Guard rail work previously approved by the county to help with safety on a section of Cave Spring Road is set to start at the beginning of the week, and a detour will be setup until it is completed.

South and Northbound traffic will be required to utilize Friendship Road to Short Road, over to Parrish Road and Santa Claus Road to get back to Cave Spring Road for any traffic heading to or from Cedartown to Cave Spring.

Signage went up this week as warnings ahead of the forthcoming closure.

A section of Cave Spring Road between Friendship and Santa Claus Road past Friendship Baptist Church will be closed starting Monday morning, February 5, until the work is complete.

Here’s the map shared by the County for the detour route:

It is the latest investment by the county in the northwesternmost part of the county.

Last year, the County completed work and officially opened the Potts Hollow Trailhead just up the road from where improvements are going to be completed and causing the shutdown.

Those who want to avoid the detour all together should utilize Highway 100 (Mountain Home Road) between Cedartown and Cave Spring for the time being off of Prior Station Road, or can take Chubbtown Road up to Jim Shack and Lyons Bridge Road, and come into Cave Spring from Padlock Mountain Road.

The county will provide an update on the construction detour as the work is completed.
