We have good news and bad news.

First, the good news. The deadline to order a picket or a brick for the new playground fence has been extended to JANUARY 10.

The reason why it’s been extended is the bad news.

As of today, 43 personalized fence pickets and 14 bricks have been sold. That’s going to make a mighty short fence and a teeny tiny two-step walkway for an incredible, jaw-dropping playground. We need everyone’s help to make this playground happen!

Personalized fence pickets and bricks are just one of the special features of the new playground, not to mention one very important piece of the fundraising puzzle — we want to see your names out there in March. And the cool thing is, those names will be out there for years and years to come! Businesses, churches, individuals… it’s a great way to be a part of our new playground.

We’ve made it super easy for your to purchase one. You can go online at https://www.jotform.com/Cedartown_EcoDev/PicketOrderForm to purchase a picket and here, https://www.jotform.com/Cedartown_EcoDev/BrickOrderForm

You can also come into City Hall during regular business hours (M-F, 8:30 – 5 PM) to fill out a form and pay in person.

If you’ve been meaning to purchase one, and it just keeps slipping your mind, here’s your sign to get it done today!

Also, take note, the playground will close for demolition on DECEMBER 27.

This 2.0 Version of the Peek Park playground is everything we loved about the old one but includes play spaces and places that were relatively unheard of back in the 1990s. Representatives with the City of Cedartown solicited the opinions of more than 300 Cedartown elementary school students regarding playground fun and features.

The new design will feature a dual racing zip line, ADA accessible merry-go-round, rubberized surfacing throughout the playground, playhouses that resemble downtown Cedartown architecture, a replica of the Big Spring Bridge, snake slide, crawl tunnel, expression swings, therapeutic swings, a sectioned off Tot Lot for smaller children, a picnic area and more.

The playground is scheduled to be built during the week of March 20. We are also in need of more volunteers to help build. Please sign up to volunteer here: https://form.jotform.com/Cedartown…/volunteer-sign-up-form
