Mr. David Lee Easterwood, age 74, of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, after an extended illness.
He was born on August 10, 1948 in Cedartown; he was the son to the late Ernest Lee and Opal Brown Easterwood. David lived his entire life in Cedartown. He was a 1966 graduate of Cedartown High School; many will remember him as an avid golfer, baseball coach, and umpire. Immediately following graduation, David was drafted and served his country in the United States Army and was given the National Defense Service medal, Expert M-16, Sharpshooter M-14, Good Conduct Medal, 2 OS Bars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 86 and the VFW of Rome.
David is survived by his wife of 25 years, Cindy Easterwood; 2 sons, William David “Wil” Easterwood, of Nashville, TN and Weston Lee “Wes” Easterwood (Heather) of Dawsonville, GA; sister, Tammy Easterwood Owens (Joy); grandchildren, Paxton Lee Easterwood and Rowan Kate Easterwood; niece, Joy Leigh Owens; and nephews, Dave Owens and Drew Owens.
The funeral service for Mr. David Lee Easterwood will be held on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at three o’clock afternoon in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Conner and Rev. Wayne Benefield officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Northview Cemetery and Full Military Rites will be conducted by the Rockmart American Legion.
The family of Mr. Easterwood will receive family and friends on Sunday, August 28, 2022 from one o’clock in the afternoon until the funeral service hour at the Gammage Funeral Home.
Flowers are being accepted; however, donations can be made to Pruitt Hospice in David’s memory.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Sammy Camp, Ronnie Harrell, Larry Lemming, Dave Owens, Drew Owens, William “Bill” Price, and Johnny Rampley. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff and care givers of Gardens of Rome.
