The June Employee of the Month for Polk County went above and beyond in her job duties in recent days.
On Tuesday evening, Commissioners celebrated a job well done by Renisha Long with Public Works, who heads up the convenience centers. She was named June’s Employee of the Month for going through some trash to
Assistant County Manager Connor Hooper explained that a frantic mother looking for an key fob accidentally thrown in the trash in recent days, and had just been dumped off at the convenience center on Davis Road right before closing.
Hooper said he found the request online, and that when Long got the call about the issue on a Sunday night at 9 p.m. with the owner’s hope of retrieving the item, she dove right into help.
Long was able to find the trash bag and recover the key fob after making a trip over to Davis Road’s Convenience Center to open the gates and take a look.
“She went out and helped the young lady retrieve her keys, and we felt like that was going above and beyond,” Hooper said during Tuesday’s presentation.
Long received a gift card and certificate for being named Employee of the Month.
