Mr. Charles Ross Phillips, age 85 of Loganville, Georgia (formerly of Rockmart, Georgia) passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, November 22, 2022 at 6:34 A.M.
Mr. Phillips was born January 1, 1937 in Aragon, son of the late Joseph Phillips and the late Lillie Scott Phillips. Mr. Phillips was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church of Tucker where he served in many capacities: Deacon, Chairman of the Usher’s Brotherhood, Sunday School Teacher, and Pastor’s Special Committees.
He was a graduate of the Rockmart High School Class of 1957.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by seven brothers: Harry, Gordon, Edward, Harold, Gerald, James, and Bobby Joe Phillips.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, the former Glenda Carol Carden; son, Jeffrey Ross Phillips and his wife Gloria Gale Phillips of Monroe, GA; five grandchildren, David and Ashley Phillips, Caleb Phillips, Rebekah and Fernando Herrera, Jeffrey Kelton Phillips, and Haley and Alex Hosey; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Phillips will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at the Second Baptist Church of Rockmart with Rev. David Warriner, Deacon Johnny Brown, and Rev. Troy Bush officiating. Service music will be performed by Christian recording artist Julie Sayer of Elberton, Georgia. Interment will follow in the Rockmart Memorial Gardens.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Steve Turner, David Underwood, Tracy Phillips, Steve Phillips, Eddie Phillips, Austin Phillips, and Scott Phillips.
The family will receive friends at Freeman Harris Funeral Home on Friday, November 25, 2022 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
