A few Sundays from now, First Baptist Church of Cedartown will be marking the start of a new chapter in their history.

Renovations have been underway at the First Baptist Church, and now they are ready to be shown off to all during a January 22 Celebration Sunday announced in recent days.

“This is a historic day in the life of our church and community,” the announcement read. “We will gather in the newly renovated sanctuary to worship and celebrate the Lord’s faithfulness!”

Services will start outside on Celebration Sunday after Sunday School finishes, with a time of prayer and dedication of the new renovations. Then the congregation will then continue the service indoors.

First Baptist’s current sanctuary was completed in 1956, and this marks the first major renovations made since the church family moved into their home decades ago.

The goals of this renewal project at the church are to “reach the next generation,” and the modernization “is just one way we are doing that.”

Dr. Chris Moses, who has headed up First Baptist for the past four years in Cedartown, has sought with the renovations to continue an initiative to Expand the Kingdom via the church’s growing involvement in the community.
