Annual Christmas parade starts at 6 p.m.

Santa Claus is going to be coming into town on Thursday night in Rockmart as the annual Christmas Parade takes over downtown streets. That is until the final fire engine passes by the Rockmart History Museum and Kris Kringle lights the Christmas tree for 2023.

This year’s parade theme ‘Small Town Christmas’ will bring on the holiday spirit as 75 entrants take part in the parade running from City Hall down Piedmont Avenue, East Elm Street and then turning onto South Marble Street at the route’s end in front of the History Museum. The parade kicks off from City Hall at 6 p.m., look for Santa’s arrival by 7 p.m.

It’ll be one of the biggest parades Rockmart has seen yet, and it’ll also feature some hometown heroes who have made an impact in 2023.

Rockmart’s own Ty Floyd will be this year’s Grand Marshal for the parade, and additional special recognition will be given to the 10-and-under and 12-and-under recreation football teams.

Look out for additional special guests during this year’s event as well.

Following this year’s parade, Santa Claus will order the Christmas tree lit out in front of City Hall and will be available to meet with children of all ages.

Downtown merchants and restaurants will also be open following the parade this year as well for those who want to keep the magic alive of a ‘Small Town Christmas’ a bit longer.
