Guard rails are up, and the roadway is back open in northwest Polk County between Cedartown and Cave Spring without any additional detours needed.

Public Works Director Dion Senn reported to Polk Today that as of this posting, the work has been completed on the Cave Spring Road safety project.

The road between Santa Claus Road and Friendship Road was shut down for the project starting on February 5, taking a full three weeks to complete.

Along with the installation of new guard rails along a somewhat sharp curve, the county also put down a new layer of asphalt on the stretch.

Drivers will now be able to travel the normal route between Cave Spring and Cedartown without having to utilize the detour route.
