Rockmart residents no longer have to make the drive to Cedartown to have a burger their way.

Local and Chamber officials gathered on Wednesday, January 24, to officially celebrate the ribbon cutting for the new addition to the fast food scene in Rockmart.

Burger King opened its doors several weeks ago, but operators of the new store gathered with representatives and board members from the Polk County Chamber of Commerce, The DAPC, The City of Rockmart and many more as the newest location for the national chain gathered before lunch for the ceremonial opening event.

Previously home to Rockmart’s Pizza Hut, the new Burger King was built to order as a replacement restaurant after the pizza chain with the same franchise ownership built a new location almost a stone’s throw away in the same complex with Ingle’s Supermarket.

Burger King marks the latest addition to the franchise restaurant scene to Rockmart in recent years on the stretch of Nathan Dean Parkway. From West to East, Rockmart has added Domino’s, Bojangles, Pizza Hut, McDonalds, Burger King, Marco’s Pizza, Little Caesar’s, Taco Bell/KFC, Popeye’s, Arby’s, Wendy’s, Chick-fil-A, and Martin’s.

That list doesn’t include a number of sit-down options along the commercial corridor with a variety of flavors represented.

Plans for a Dunkin’ Donuts were announced in recent weeks for the corridor as well, alongside a Longhorn Steakhouse.
