Billy Fincher

Billy Fincher, age 76, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Wednesday morning, September 14, 2022.

Billy was born June 16, 1946, in Rockmart, GA, to Eloise & Josh Fincher. He worked with his family beginning at an early age to support the family. He was employed at Goodyear Mill at age 15 and worked for 5 years leaving Goodyear to follow his dream to build houses and own his own Construction Business. He took great pride in his work and built quality homes throughout his 45-year career. Billy had a reputation as a good builder, a good employer, and a good man.

When the state of Georgia first began requiring builders to have a license in order to be in business, Billy was among the first to receive his license and later went on to earn his Master Plumbing license.

Billy was a deacon of Morning View Baptist Church. He attended faithfully until his health prevented his doing so. He loved to teach in the Men’s class, work with the boys, and he loved doing the repair work as needed at the church. He loved using his skills to help those in need.

In 1964 he married the love of his life, Marcia Paulette McCown Fincher at the home of her pastor. Billy loved spending time with his children and his grandchildren. He especially loved reviewing pictures of happy times with his family.

He was preceded in death by his first child Cammie Mae Fincher, his parents, his sisters Vickie Smith & Glenda Earwood, his brothers Randall Fincher & Wayne Fincher, his brothers-in-law, Johnny Pinkard, Willard Earwood, Bennie McCown & Jackie Robinson.

Survivors include his wife Marcia Paulette Fincher; son and daughter-in-law James and Wendy Fincher of Rockmart: daughter and son-in-law Tina and Jonathan Bartleson of Rome; grandchildren Tyler, Sierra & Sadie Fincher, Aaron, Emily & Leah Bartleson; brothers Wendall Fincher & Richard Fincher, sisters Nancy Pinard, Lynn Warren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Billy Fincher will be held Friday afternoon, September 16, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Hulsey officiating. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.

Billy’s family will receive friends at Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home Friday from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour.

Pallbearers will include Tyler Fincher, Aaron Bartleson, Donald Cleveland, William Hudson, and Crick Fincher.

Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home & Crematory has charge of the funeral of Billy Fincher.
