Mrs. Beulah Inez Griggs

Mrs. Beulah Inez Griggs, age 94, of Rockmart, GA passed away peacefully Monday, March 18, 2024, at The Harbor of Renaissance Marquis in Rome, GA.

She was born in Paulding County, GA, on March 30, 1929, a daughter of the late Miles D. Hulsey and the late Berma H. Hulsey. Mrs. Griggs had lived all of her life in Polk County and was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church.

She had also attended the Bethel Crossroads Baptist Church.

Mrs. Griggs enjoyed traveling, shopping, going to garage and estate sales, collecting dolls and antiques, fishing, growing African violets, sewing curtains, making delicious fried fruit pies, sweet potato pies and pecan pies. Also, preserving fruits and vegetables from their garden.

It was a pleasure to pull up a chair at her table. Especially the Holiday Dinners, the table would be filled with so much homemade deliciousness, you wouldn’t know where to begin. How thankful and blessed we are to have those memories.

Mrs. Griggs was a hard worker having started working at the age of 17 in the Aragon Cotton Mill. She worked in the textile mills until her retirement. Mrs. Griggs also worked alongside her husband keeping books for their family business “Griggs Antique Auction”.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 76 years, James Lee Griggs on January 5, 2024; by her oldest son, James Lamar “Jimmy” Griggs; sisters: Estelle Plunkett, Marveen Roberson and brother-in-law Dewey Waters.

Survivors include a son Phil Griggs and his wife Debbie; daughter in law Lois Griggs; grandchildren: Chris, Dena, Charles and Christine; great-grandchildren: Logan, Bodee, Rachel, Dakota, Christopher, Abigail and Sawyer; great-great-grandchild Emmie; and sister, Doris Hulsey Waters.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 4:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Keith Dempsey officiating and Mike Brownlow delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 pm until the service hour at 4:00 pm.
