Sad news to report today in this brief tribute for the Aragon community with the passing of a local pastor that was beloved by those who knew him, and leaves behind family and friends who will remember him for his compassion and kindness.

The Rev. Calvin Brown, 69, died today and leaves behind his wife Rita of 51 years, two sons and their families as well, along with the Aragon Baptist Church community which he headed up for the past 8 years.

Brown had recently retired from AT&T after long service with the company in the past year.

Prior to his service with Aragon Baptist, Brown served as a pastor at other area churches, as well as a fill-in preacher for congregations. He had recently suffered from health issues and was recovering prior to his passing.

Arrangements for Rev. Brown are being handled by Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home in Rockmart, and no additional information is immediately available about service times and locations. Check back as updates become available.
