Aydenn Mascote-Otero is this year’s Polk School District Spelling Bee winner! He will go onto represent PSD in the regional bee in February.

Aydenn Mascote-Otero out-spelled all other comers on Friday morning as the Polk School District held their annual Spelling Bee at the PCCCA.

Mascote-Otero is a 6th grade student from Cedartown Middle School and was the alternate winner to take the top prize for the District Bee.

He will go onto represent the Polk School District in the Regional Spelling Bee on February 24.

Competitors from this year’s Spelling Bee included Cherokee Elementary School’s Logan Tracy and alternate Tony Domingo Ixmay; Brantley Wolfe and alternate Addylyn Robinson from Eastside Elementary; Northside Elementary School’s Cesar Segura; Van Wert Elementary School’s Camryn Rose and alternate Corbin Goss; Eimy Ramirez and alternate Jac Carter from Westside Elementary; Youngs Grove Elementary’s Beau Kress and Caliyah Jones (she transferred from Northside to Youngs Grove before the District bee and was winner at NHS) with alternate Josie Frady. Rockmart Middle sent Graham Dooley and alternate Gavin Hendrix and Cedartown Middle also saw Febe Perez Tomas as a winner as well.

The District posted the results of the Bee on social media today as well.

Polk County’s Rotary Club sponsored the 2024 Spelling Bee for the Polk School District.

They thanked the caller and judges Andrea Sorrells, Dorothy Turner, Debbie Ross, Dottie Taylor, and Rebecca Crymes for taking time out to provide their services for the Bee.
